San Antonio – It’s not so much a hack as a relatively unknown service but it proves once again that no store does more than HEB.
A viral TikTok post over the weekend revealed that HEB will be steaming and seasoning seafood at the store so you can come home with a hot dinner.
KSAT reached out to HEB and spokeswoman Julie Bedingfield confirmed that most seafood service departments have steaming capabilities in stores.
“This is a service that we have been proud to offer customers for many years,” Bedingfield said.
TikTok user lucystylezz posted the viral video, which shows her walking up to HEB’s seafood counter and asking if they cook for customers.
HEB partner confirms that they are steamed and also offer a variety of condiments.
Bedingfield confirmed that Old Bay, Pepper, Lemon and Creole are available in most stores.
“Some of the items that are best steamed are lobster, lobster, and shrimp,” Bedingfield said.
Partner HEB also listed lobster, crab, and shrimp as the top items shoppers can get steamed.
Comments on the video ranged from shock to excitement.
Keira Taylor commented on the video saying that she was a HEB and didn’t even know about the “hack.”
Another commenter, Val Gonzalez, said she buys pounds of shrimp steamed in a lemon-pepper seasoning.
TikToker Willy C said, “THE CAJUN PRISM IS FIREEEEEEE.”
