We spoke to Beko, the UK’s best-selling large-scale home appliance brand, to get their best tips on how to clean your home with little to no effort.
Beko Marketing Director Shalika Hooda told us her top tips on how to get the best results from washing machines, dishwashers and vacuum cleaners and how to make your cleaning routine a little easier.
Easy washing and drying of brushes
According to Shaliqa, if you want to wash and dry your bedding without having to use an extra cover.
Shaliqa explained, “To avoid having to wash bulky duvets and pillows regularly, cover them with extra stuffing.
This will act as an extra layer of protection when they are used, limiting their exposure to germs and bacteria.
“The comforter bags can then be laundered weekly, keeping comforters and pillows fresh without having to put them in the washing machine.”
Get kids’ toys clean in one rinse
Shalika’s next tip that will make many parents’ lives much easier involves using a dishwasher to clean children’s toys.
Shaliqa added: “Children’s toys can contain a lot of germs.
However, an effective way to clean plastic toys is to put them in the dishwasher.
“Be sure to use a low temperature to avoid spoilage, and for smaller toys, like Lego, put them in a cutlery basket to avoid loss.
“For larger toys, protect them by placing them inside a dishwasher-safe mesh bag.”
Dirty clean deep floors
If you want to get your dirty floors clean without much effort, Shaqlia advised the importance of dusting.
Shaliqa said: “Before vacuuming, be sure to dust off shelves, cupboards, and tables, so dirt on the floor is ready to collect in the vacuum.
“Start in the corner of the room and work up and down in a zigzag motion.”
Keep ovens in tip-top shape
Finally, if your oven needs a little TLC, Shalika shared the simple hack you should try.
Cleaning hum advised: To remove tough food residue on griddles, ceramic stovetops, or inside ovens, mix 60ml of baking soda with 1 tablespoon of liquid detergent.
“Once mixed, add enough pure distilled malt vinegar to give the solution a thick, creamy consistency.

Spread the mixture on the appliance or tray and let it sit for 30 minutes.
Use warm water and a cloth to wipe off the cleaner residue before turning the machine back on.
